Have you Giv’in? Has your installer Giv’up? Independent GivEnergy support that actually fixes the problem.
Battery not charging, portal offline, red light flashing, CAN comms fault, CT clamp errors — we diagnose GivEnergy systems at the engineering level. Remote-first. Evidence-led. Independent from GivEnergy and from your installer.
Most solar faults are diagnosed remotely in a single session. Tell us what you're seeing and we'll work it out.

Common GivEnergy problems we diagnose
Every fault below has a proven diagnostic path. Click through for the specific page or book a diagnostic if you're unsure.
Charge windows look correct but battery stays empty. Octopus Intelligent, Agile, and Go tariff configuration errors. CT clamp misread causing the inverter to think demand is already met.
See diagnostic guide →Inverter loses communication with battery over the CAN bus. Firmware mismatch, termination issues, cable faults, or BMS lock state after a protection event.
See diagnostic guide →Flash patterns on the GivEnergy battery indicate different fault states — BMS protection, over-temperature, cell imbalance, or communication loss. Do not open the unit.
See diagnostic guide →Battery shows full but house uses grid power. Paused battery, reserve level too high, Export First mode, or discharge power limit set to zero.
See diagnostic guide →Charge schedule or system mode keeps reverting. Usually caused by an external API, energy provider integration, or GivBack programme controlling your inverter.
See diagnostic guide →Settings greyed out or reverting because your energy provider has control via API. How to identify, understand, and remove the lockout safely.
See removal guide →Battery stops charging below 0°C, capacity drops in cold weather. Temperature thresholds, winter schedule optimisation, and when it's normal vs a fault.

About GivEnergy systems — what you need to know
GivEnergy is one of the UK's most popular solar battery brands, known for their hybrid inverters, All-in-One units, and modular battery stacks. Their systems communicate over a CAN bus between the inverter and battery — a common fault path when communication breaks down after firmware updates or power interruptions.
The GivEnergy portal (givenergy.cloud) and mobile app rely on a local GivHub or WiFi module. When this loses connection — due to router changes, firmware bugs, or hardware failure — the portal goes dark even though the system may still be generating.
GivEnergy systems work particularly well with Octopus Energy tariffs (Intelligent, Agile, Go) when configured correctly. Many reported issues with battery not charging on cheap rate trace back to incorrect charge window settings, CT clamp orientation errors, or SoC minimum thresholds.
If you're searching for GivEnergy repair UK, GivEnergy battery not charging, GivEnergy portal offline, GivEnergy CAN fault, or GivEnergy red light, STS provides independent diagnostic and repair support across the UK — not affiliated with GivEnergy Ltd.
GivEnergy questions answered
Most common causes: incorrect charge window schedule, CT clamp direction error, BMS communication fault, or SoC minimum threshold set too high. See the full guide →
Local causes include router change, WiFi password update, or GivHub hardware fault. Cloud-side causes include portal outages or firmware that broke cloud connectivity. See portal offline guide →
A red status light typically signals a protection fault, BMS alarm, or communication error. Do NOT open the battery. Note the flash pattern and check the app for error codes. See red light guide →
Yes. CAN faults are usually caused by firmware mismatch, incorrect termination, CAN cable damage, or a BMS lock state. Many can be recovered remotely. See CAN fault guide →
EPS must be explicitly enabled in settings. It also requires a dedicated EPS output circuit and minimum battery SoC threshold to be met. See EPS configuration guide →
