What an Amazing service and so helpful . I have had problems with a faulty GivEnergy inverter and Ron has been so diligent in investigating and reporting on it . I’d give him more than 5 stars if I could for his help in diagnosis and potential solution. Thoroughly recommend .

Ronald was great to help me sort out my giv energy inverter issue since company has gone bankrupt in april 26.

Ankur Kr. Gupta · Jun 2026 Google

After GivEnergy went into liquidation, just my luck, my battery started playing up (internal board crashed). Contacted my installer - not interested! Found Solar tech support on a Google search. Sooo glad I found this company! Ron is extremely helpful and has plenty of experience. He soon confirmed what the fault was, and helped me to get my system up and running again. Now moved my GivEnergy account to Solar tech support, and will definitely use again if I have more issues. Unusual to find such a helpful company in these times, no morons reading scripts, just direct contact with the engineer.

Fault Codes

SolarEdge error codes explained

SolarEdge displays fault codes in the monitoring portal and on the SetApp. Common error prefixes: 'G' (grid faults), 'OP' (optimiser communication), 'AFCI' (arc fault detection), 'AC' (AC side faults). Share your exact code when you book — we identify the root cause using monitoring portal data and SetApp logs.

Fault code categories
·Grid faults — G prefix, voltage & frequency
·Optimiser communication failures — OP prefix
·Arc fault events — AFCI detection
·AC isolation / grid disconnect

About SolarEdge systems — what you need to know

SolarEdge is the UK's largest solar inverter brand by installed capacity. Unlike conventional string inverters, SolarEdge pairs each panel with a power optimiser — a DC-DC converter that maximises output from each module independently. The inverter then operates at a fixed input voltage (the SolarEdge 'HD-Wave' principle), which improves efficiency and makes the system safer to work on (DC strings run at a fixed 1V when the inverter is off). The monitoring portal provides panel-level output data — a significant advantage for fault diagnosis.

The most searched SolarEdge issues we see are: SolarEdge not producing, SolarEdge arc fault, SolarEdge optimiser not communicating, SolarEdge monitoring offline, and SolarEdge installer gone bust. SolarEdge systems are commissioned using SetApp — a mobile tool that replaces the traditional display. If your installer didn't complete commissioning or you've lost access, we recover and verify the configuration. STS provides independent SolarEdge support across the UK — not affiliated with SolarEdge Technologies Inc.

FAQ

SolarEdge questions answered

The most common causes are a tripped AC or DC isolator, a power optimiser not communicating, an arc fault detection trip, or grid disconnection. We identify the specific fault path remotely using monitoring data and error logs. Check the inverter display for error codes and book a diagnostic if the cause isn't clear.
Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI) detection is a SolarEdge safety feature. A trip means the inverter detected abnormal current patterns on the DC string — typically a damaged cable, poor connector, or optimiser fault. Do not reset repeatedly without identifying the cause.
An N/A optimiser in the SolarEdge monitoring portal usually means the optimiser has failed, lost DC power, or the string has an open-circuit fault. Each optimiser is a separate component — one failure does not affect the others but reduces overall output. We identify the specific unit and cause before recommending replacement.
Check the inverter display for an error code. If the inverter is running but the portal shows no data, the communication module (ZigBee or ethernet) may have lost connection. If the inverter is offline too, check AC and DC isolators are closed. We can reconnect the monitoring device remotely in most cases.
