Eversolar Inverter Failed — Assessment & Replacement Options UK

Eversolar inverters were widely installed across UK homes in 2010–2013. The Eversolar brand ceased to exist around 2011–2012 when the company merged and was rebranded as Zeversolar. UK owners have had no manufacturer support for over a decade. When an Eversolar inverter fails today — and they are increasingly doing so — replacement with a modern unit is the only available path.

Ron took me through a diagnostic to confirm my GivEnergy Inverter had a fault. A common one as it turns out with the AC Inverter. As GivEnergy is defunct there is no immediate fix, aside from sourcing 2nd hand replacement. It may be that a fix becomes available over the summer which would make a lot of GivEnergy customers happy (Again)

Ron was really helpful. He remotely adjusted my battery settings on the same day I contacted him, and at a reasonable price. Great service.

Ron is incredibly knowledgeable about solar installs in general but knows givenergy products inside out and the key personnel that worked there from the start to the end. My problem was spurious in its nature but Ron spotted it straight away when he understood the installation details. In essence the installers didn’t fit the correct trip switch. He also gave me hope that in the future hardware repairs could be possible but it’s still early days. This guy really is in the know and keen to sucas a business If you need help don’t hesitate

Our 3 year old GivEnergy batteries froze. They were showing 0% on the app, but they were fully charged. Some how Ron took over our inverter and remotely cured the problem. We live in King’s Lynn, he is in Leeds I believe. Very grateful.

David Lewin · Jul 2026 Google

Big thanks to Ron. He was incredibly patient and helpful over the phone, taking the time to walk myself and the installer through every troubleshooting step. Through lots of testing he figured out the issue was definitely a hardware issue, which allows us to consider our next steps. Support fees are clear and they operate a “no fix no fee” policy. It is rare to find that kind of honesty combined with dedicated phone support nowadays. I highly recommend Ron, if you need help with your solar system don’t hesitate to give him a call.

What a fantastic service. Had my fault diagnosed within minutes and actually managed to resolve the issue remotely within a few minutes more. This guy is like a “Solar Batman” helping consumers fix their problems using his extensive industry knowledge and expertise. Outstanding service. Thank you so much.

About Eversolar — why your inverter may no longer be repairable

Eversolar was a Chinese solar inverter manufacturer with a UK distribution presence. Their inverters — typically 1–5kW single-phase string units — were installed in volume during the Feed-in Tariff boom of 2010–2013. The Eversolar brand ceased to exist around 2011–2012 when the manufacturer merged and rebranded as Zeversolar, which was subsequently acquired by SMA and itself closed in 2019. Many UK owners have been without manufacturer support for over ten years. Eversolar inverters now aged 12–15 years are experiencing high failure rates, particularly capacitor and power board failures. No spare parts exist and there is no monitoring platform.

The internal collapse of Eversolar as a company left a vacuum with no technical support, no spare parts, and no service pathway for failed units. Unlike some other defunct brands, Eversolar has no third-party specialist service network in the UK — repair is effectively impossible. When an Eversolar inverter fails, the only viable option is replacement with a modern, actively-supported unit. Any investment in repair is not economically rational given the unit's age and the complete absence of support infrastructure.

Common Failures

Why Eversolar inverters fail

Total failure — no output

The most common Eversolar failure mode. Dead inverter, no lights, no generation. DC bus capacitor failure after 10–15 years of operation. Non-repairable: no spare parts are available.

Fault light / error code — no documentation

Eversolar fault codes are undocumented as the manufacturer no longer exists. A fault light with no production usually indicates a protection event caused by aging internal components. Cannot be cleared or diagnosed without replacement.

Severely underperforming

Still running but producing a fraction of expected output. Capacitor degradation causes MPPT efficiency loss and output clipping. Confirming the loss requires a comparison against calculated roof output.

Replacement Options

What should I replace a failed Eversolar inverter with?

When an Eversolar inverter fails, you can replace it with a modern string inverter at similar cost, or upgrade to a hybrid inverter to add battery storage capability. The solar panels and DC cabling remain — only the inverter is replaced. STS assesses your string configuration and recommends the most suitable replacement.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

No. The Eversolar brand ceased to exist around 2011–2012 when the manufacturer merged and was rebranded as Zeversolar, which itself subsequently closed in 2019. No spare parts have been available for over a decade. The inverter's internal capacitors, IGBTs, and control electronics cannot be sourced. Even if a repair were technically possible in isolation, it would not be economically viable without parts availability. Any functioning Eversolar unit is operating beyond its design life, and replacement is the recommended approach.
Eversolar's fault code documentation no longer exists — the company's service resources are gone. Without access to the service manual, individual codes cannot be interpreted. However, any fault code combined with reduced or no generation on a 12–15 year old inverter almost always indicates a failing power component. A physical inspection confirming DC input and AC output voltages is the most useful diagnostic step before deciding on replacement.
Any modern string or hybrid inverter compatible with your panel string's voltage and current ratings can replace an Eversolar. The panels themselves are unaffected and can typically be used for another 10–15 years. If you want battery storage added at the same time as the replacement, a hybrid inverter is the most cost-effective option. We provide a full replacement specification including string compatibility check before recommending a specific inverter model.
Yes. STS can replace legacy Eversolar inverters with modern string or hybrid inverters, keeping your existing panels and DC wiring in place. You can choose a like-for-like string inverter replacement, or upgrade to a hybrid model with battery storage. Replacement typically costs from £795 for a standard string unit. We provide a full assessment, compatibility check, installation, and commissioning on modern monitoring systems.
