I reached on behalf of a friend, who had lost control of their battery following a storm. A couple giv energy “dealers” had attempted and said different fixes. None worked. Solar tech support solved it remotely on the first attempt almost instantly. Genuinely a 10/10 service.

Prompt and useful support regarding my Sunsynk system lack of performance. Ronald simplified the technical issues to make them understandable. Many thanks, looking forward to follow up.

Big thanks to Ron. He was incredibly patient and helpful over the phone, taking the time to walk myself and the installer through every troubleshooting step. Through lots of testing he figured out the issue was definitely a hardware issue, which allows us to consider our next steps. Support fees are clear and they operate a “no fix no fee” policy. It is rare to find that kind of honesty combined with dedicated phone support nowadays. I highly recommend Ron, if you need help with your solar system don’t hesitate to give him a call.

Massively massively recommended. We had a big battery array (49kW across three phases) put in four years ago. c £35k cost. It’s been a total nightmare for many reasons, not least 1. our installer being totally useless and unresponsive and 2. Givenergy, our battery supplier, going bust. Long story short it had never worked anywhere near properly despite countless hours on phones and emails; the best we’d achieved was one third of the batteries working. Rather than write it off, I asked a PM friend to try to source someone who could come on site and review and revive the system. He found Solar Tech Support and Ron. Ron assured us he was the man to get it going again. After so many years of pain, I was not convinced but, true to his word, five hours later it was up and running. Lovely chap, super knowledgeable with a support team to lean on who are also clearly super technical. I honestly didn’t think there was much chance of getting this array going ever again so was absolutely delighted when Ron and team pulled it off. Bravo!

Ron made more sense in 20 mins than our installer has done over the last 12 months There is a jungle out there and you need someone like Ron to give a comprehensive overview and solution

My 90-year-old father-in-law had a solar system installed nearly three years ago that never worked properly and kept tripping out. Neither the original installer nor GivEnergy could resolve the issues, and we were even pushed towards replacing the system entirely when GivEnergy went bust. I contacted Ron at Solar Tech Support via WhatsApp, and within a few hours he had diagnosed multiple faults — including incorrect wiring that posed a potential fire risk. He carried out a home visit in Nottingham for £295 (including parts), fixed everything, completed firmware updates, and ensured the system was fully operational. Since then, it has worked perfectly. Ron was knowledgeable, responsive, and took the time to explain everything clearly. Highly recommended — excellent value and complete peace of mind.

What actually goes wrong with Lux systems

Most Lux faults we see come down to two things: the battery not charging on the cheap rate overnight, and the LXP inverter losing contact with its UHome battery stack. Neither usually means dead hardware.

The charging one is nearly always a settings problem in the LuxPower portal. A charge window that never got saved, the grid charge toggle left off, or the inverter clock stuck on GMT after the clocks go forward, so the window fires an hour late and misses the off-peak rate. Our guide to Octopus cheap-rate charging on Lux walks through it step by step.

The UHome BMS communication fault is usually a loose CAN cable, duplicate module addresses, or a battery count that doesn't match the physical stack. We diagnose both remotely, free, and you pay nothing if we can't fix it.

FAQ

Lux fault questions answered

Check three things in the LuxPower portal: a charge window saved for your off-peak hours, grid charge enabled, and the inverter clock. Lux inverters don't always follow UK daylight saving, so a window set for 00:30 can fire at 01:30 in summer and miss the cheap rate entirely. That clock offset is the single most common cause of seasonal charging failures. If those check out, look at the SoC target and charge current limit: a battery already at target, or charging too slowly, won't fill in the window.
Usually, yes. Charging schedule problems, clock offsets, grid charge settings and SoC targets are all sorted through the LuxPower portal in a single remote session. UHome BMS communication faults are mostly configuration too: battery addressing, module count and firmware mismatches can be diagnosed and corrected without a visit. If it turns out to be a damaged CAN cable or a genuine hardware fault in a battery module, we'll tell you straight and give you a clear report to use for a warranty claim.
Nothing. The remote diagnostic is free, and it's no fix, no fee. If the problem is something we can put right remotely, like a TOU schedule or clock correction, remote fixes start from £75 and you only pay when it's fixed. If we can't fix it, you pay nothing and you'll still know exactly what's wrong with the system.
