Brilliant support to get my solar battery working again. I didn’t expect help on a Saturday but Ron answered the phone, listened and sent me the information I needed to get it going, answered questions etc. A brilliant service I’d happily recommend.

Massively massively recommended. We had a big battery array (49kW across three phases) put in four years ago. c £35k cost. It’s been a total nightmare for many reasons, not least 1. our installer being totally useless and unresponsive and 2. Givenergy, our battery supplier, going bust. Long story short it had never worked anywhere near properly despite countless hours on phones and emails; the best we’d achieved was one third of the batteries working. Rather than write it off, I asked a PM friend to try to source someone who could come on site and review and revive the system. He found Solar Tech Support and Ron. Ron assured us he was the man to get it going again. After so many years of pain, I was not convinced but, true to his word, five hours later it was up and running. Lovely chap, super knowledgeable with a support team to lean on who are also clearly super technical. I honestly didn’t think there was much chance of getting this array going ever again so was absolutely delighted when Ron and team pulled it off. Bravo!

Our 3 year old GivEnergy batteries froze. They were showing 0% on the app, but they were fully charged. Some how Ron took over our inverter and remotely cured the problem. We live in King’s Lynn, he is in Leeds I believe. Very grateful.

Thank you for your diligence. On this occasion the battery was able to be saved but they have given a route to hopefully arrange a repair from the manufacturer.

Contacted Solar Tech Support when trying to understand what my Givenergy inverter problem might be and what might be my options. Received good/honest advise which backed up my thoughts.

Hugh Speirs · Apr 2026

I have a GivEnergy system consisting of two batteries, two inverters and a controlling EMS (Energy Management System) which has not worked since Nov 2025. After six months I discovered Solar Tech Support, reached out to them and Ron phoned me back – how often do you get that service? Could not be more helpful – worked directly with me over the phone, outside what I would call normal working hours. Lucid explanations and we were able to discuss the issues and history using camera and email history. As this was a very rare setup, Ron was able to access an EMS expert in the field to confirm the solution. One sunny day in, I am now only paying for standing charge and a few pence for spikes in grid consumption while battery catches up with house demand.

When you need a system takeover
Previous installer gone bust

The most common takeover scenario. Monitoring locked, no warranty contact, orphaned documentation. We handle the full recovery: documentation rebuild, monitoring access transfer, and a clean technical baseline.

Switching maintenance provider

Current O&M arrangement is too expensive, too slow, or too commercially conflicted. We can baseline the system while your current contract is still active — no gap in coverage during the transition.

Building acquisition / new lease

You've just bought or leased a commercial property with existing solar. You need to know what condition it's in, who looks after it, and what the maintenance commitments are. The takeover handover gives you a clear technical and contractual reset.

No existing arrangement

System was installed and then forgotten about — common with FIT-era commercial installs where the installer never offered ongoing maintenance. We build the maintenance regime from scratch.

Insurance / compliance requirement

Your insurer or facilities-management contract now requires named technical oversight on the solar installation. The takeover engagement gives you a documented commercial relationship with an independent provider — no manufacturer or installer conflicts.

Multi-site portfolio

Property management company with solar across multiple sites and inconsistent maintenance histories. We onboard the whole portfolio with a single baseline-audit cycle and consistent technical records across all sites.

How the takeover works — 6 steps

1
Free scoping call

You tell us where the system is, approximate size, brand if known, and why you're looking for a takeover. 15 minutes by phone or video. We confirm whether we can take it on and what the baseline-audit fee will be.

2
Written quote

Fixed-price baseline audit + handover scope, in writing. Larger systems get a bespoke scoping document. You commit before we schedule the on-site work.

3
On-site baseline audit

Full inspection: inverters, panels, cabling, isolators, battery storage where present, monitoring hardware, DNO connection. Components identified, wiring verified, faults catalogued. Half a day for small systems, a full day for larger.

4
Documentation recovery

We chase whatever paperwork we can: original commissioning certificates, MCS/RECC records, DNO connection agreements, FIT or SEG paperwork, warranty status. Where records are gone, we reconstruct from on-site evidence.

5
Monitoring handover

Portal access transferred to STS, alerting reconfigured to come to us, historical performance data exported and stored. If the original installer locked the portal, we work with the manufacturer to re-establish access.

6
Baseline report + ongoing care

Written baseline report covers system condition, all faults found, remediation quote (if any), and the documentation file. Then the system is under our care — ongoing fault response uses the standard no-fix-no-fee rate-card. No retainer.

FAQ

System takeover — frequently asked questions

A system takeover begins with a baseline audit — a full on-site inspection of your commercial solar system to assess current condition, identify faults, verify monitoring status, and recover or reconstruct documentation. We then remediate any immediate issues, configure monitoring under our care, and establish a documented baseline to measure future performance against. The baseline-audit fee is from £895; remedial work is quoted separately.
Yes. This is the single most common reason commercial clients contact us for a takeover. When the original installer is no longer trading, documentation is often missing, monitoring may have lapsed, and warranty claims become more difficult to pursue. We assess the system independently, recover what documentation we can, and establish a new technical baseline. We are not tied to any installer network — we take over any commercial solar system regardless of who installed it.
That depends on your existing contract terms. Review your current agreement for notice periods, termination clauses, and any handover obligations. We can conduct the baseline audit while your existing contract is still active — so there is no gap in coverage — and coordinate the transition to minimise disruption.
Missing documentation is common, particularly for older installations or where the original installer is no longer trading. Our engineers assess the system on site, identify all components, verify wiring configurations, check DNO connection agreements, and reconstruct a working system record. This baseline documentation becomes the technical reference for everything that follows.
The baseline audit is typically completed in a single site visit (half-day for small systems, full day for medium-to-large). Monitoring setup, documentation recovery, and any immediate fault remediation may take one to two weeks depending on system complexity and the availability of existing records. Once the baseline is established, the system is under our care immediately.
Yes. The baseline audit identifies all existing faults and underperformance. We provide a clear remediation plan with fixed pricing for any repair work needed before the system is fully under our care. You know exactly what condition the system is in and what it will cost to bring it up to standard. There is no obligation to carry out remediation through us — you can use the audit report independently if you prefer.
No-fix-no-fee remote diagnostic for any fault; same emergency-callout rates as the consumer side; written reports after every visit. We hold the documentation and monitoring access so when something happens, we already know the system. No locked-in retainer or surprise fees — same transparent rate-card as everything else on this site.
Baseline audit + documentation handover: from £895 one-off. Larger or multi-site systems quoted bespoke after a free scoping call. Any remedial work uncovered during the audit is quoted separately in writing — no surprise invoices. Ongoing fault response uses the same rate-card as the consumer site (free no-fix-no-fee remote, from £295 on-site callout).
