I reached on behalf of a friend, who had lost control of their battery following a storm. A couple giv energy “dealers” had attempted and said different fixes. None worked. Solar tech support solved it remotely on the first attempt almost instantly. Genuinely a 10/10 service.

My 90-year-old father-in-law had a solar system installed nearly three years ago that never worked properly and kept tripping out. Neither the original installer nor GivEnergy could resolve the issues, and we were even pushed towards replacing the system entirely when GivEnergy went bust. I contacted Ron at Solar Tech Support via WhatsApp, and within a few hours he had diagnosed multiple faults — including incorrect wiring that posed a potential fire risk. He carried out a home visit in Nottingham for £295 (including parts), fixed everything, completed firmware updates, and ensured the system was fully operational. Since then, it has worked perfectly. Ron was knowledgeable, responsive, and took the time to explain everything clearly. Highly recommended — excellent value and complete peace of mind.

I've spoken to Ron a couple of times with issues with my Givenergy installation. Such a friendly knowledge guy very highly recommended. Thank you very much for resolving my issues

When my GivEnergy system had an issue, I was completely left without support and had honestly lost all hope. Thankfully, I searched online and found Ron, which completely turned things around. After sending him a message, he responded incredibly fast and called me to assure me that he would get the problem fixed. I really admire his dedicated, supportive nature and his determination to find a solution. With this kind of outstanding attitude and customer service, he has absolutely secured a future customer in me.

I sent a message on their website regarding a problem I have on my Givenergy system. Although not supplied by Ronald, I thought it was worth an email. Within the hour on a Saturday, he phoned and we discussed the problem. He logged in remotely and gave excellent advice. I'm too far away for his on-site help but he did diagnose the problem and was happy also to chat through my thoughts about an upcoming solar/battery install I'm planning. Great bloke.... if only he was nearer!

What actually goes wrong with Solis inverters

Most Solis faults we deal with are settings or grid problems, not failed hardware. The two we see again and again are grid overvoltage trips on S6 and RHI models, where the inverter disconnects at midday because local grid voltage has pushed past the 253V G98 limit, and generating but not exporting, which is nearly always a zero export limit in SolisCloud, a reversed CT clamp or the wrong G98/G99 grid code. In both cases the inverter is doing exactly what it has been told to do.

The CT clamp turns up in both problems. Fitted backwards, it gives the inverter the wrong picture of what is flowing to and from the grid, so Volt-Watt response misfires and export gets blocked when it should not be. It is one of the first things we check on a Solis system.

Because everything is configured through SolisCloud, most of this can be diagnosed and put right remotely. The diagnostic is free and you only pay if we fix it.

FAQ

Solis fault questions answered

Check SolisCloud before assuming the inverter is broken. Open the event log and note the AC voltage at the moment the fault was logged. If it says Grid Over Voltage and the reading is above 253V, the inverter is following the G98 grid code and protecting the network. The hardware is fine. If it reconnects on its own within five to ten minutes, the overvoltage is transient. If it trips every sunny midday, Volt-Watt response and an export limit set in SolisCloud will cut the trips right down.
Most of them, yes. Solis inverters are configured through SolisCloud, so export limits, G98/G99 grid code settings and Volt-Watt response can all be checked and corrected without anyone coming out. The one common exception is a reversed CT clamp. We can confirm that diagnosis remotely from your monitoring data, but physically flipping the clamp needs someone on site.
Nothing. The remote diagnostic is free, no fix, no fee. If the problem turns out to be a settings issue we can put right through SolisCloud, the remote fix is £75 and you only pay if we actually fix it. Anything that needs on-site work gets quoted before we book it.
