I have a GivEnergy system consisting of two batteries, two inverters and a controlling EMS (Energy Management System) which has not worked since Nov 2025. After six months I discovered Solar Tech Support, reached out to them and Ron phoned me back – how often do you get that service? Could not be more helpful – worked directly with me over the phone, outside what I would call normal working hours. Lucid explanations and we were able to discuss the issues and history using camera and email history. As this was a very rare setup, Ron was able to access an EMS expert in the field to confirm the solution. One sunny day in, I am now only paying for standing charge and a few pence for spikes in grid consumption while battery catches up with house demand.

Called back within a day and gave good advice.

Rob and Sue Dempster · Jun 2026 Google

Ronald was great to help me sort out my giv energy inverter issue since company has gone bankrupt in april 26.

Ankur Kr. Gupta · Jun 2026 Google

I reached on behalf of a friend, who had lost control of their battery following a storm. A couple giv energy “dealers” had attempted and said different fixes. None worked. Solar tech support solved it remotely on the first attempt almost instantly. Genuinely a 10/10 service.

Will Jay · Jun 2026 Google

Ron took me through a diagnostic to confirm my GivEnergy Inverter had a fault. A common one as it turns out with the AC Inverter. As GivEnergy is defunct there is no immediate fix, aside from sourcing 2nd hand replacement. It may be that a fix becomes available over the summer which would make a lot of GivEnergy customers happy (Again)

Tony Deacon · May 2026

My Givenergy battery stopped working nearly a month ago. After unsuccessfully reaching out to my installer, who looks like he's also busted, I found Solar Tech Support on a Google search. They fixed my issue in a couple of hours. Any frustrated Givenergy customers, I highly recommend these guys.

Architecture overview

Four product lines, three architectures

GivEnergy's residential range splits cleanly into DC-coupled hybrid inverters (paired with separate GivBat modules), the integrated All-in-One range (battery + inverter in one box), and the standalone EV charger. The Gen 3 8.0kW hybrid is the only model that uses HV stackable batteries — everything else on the hybrid side is LV.

Product 1 — Gen 3 hybrid inverters
Modular hybrid

GivEnergy Gen 3 Hybrid Inverter

The Gen 3 hybrid is GivEnergy's flagship modular DC-coupled inverter. Three output ratings (3.6kW, 5.0kW, 8.0kW), single-phase only. The 3.6 and 5.0 take LV GivBats; the 8.0 is HV-only and uses the stackable kit. All Gen 3 hybrids have in-built WiFi and LAN per the datasheet — no external dongle, no "GivHub".

Battery pairing

3.6kW + 5.0kW Gen 3: LV GivBats (51.2V) — GivBat 5.12 Gen 3 or GivBat 9.5 Gen 3. Up to 5 in parallel = 47.5kWh max.
8.0kW Gen 3: HV stackable kit ONLY. GIV-BAT-13.6-HV (4 packs, 307VDC), GIV-BAT-17.0-HV (5 packs, 384VDC) or GIV-BAT-20.4-HV (6 packs, 460VDC). Does not accept 51.2V LV GivBats.
3.6kW pushes 3.6kW max regardless of stack size — a large stack just holds more, it does not charge/discharge faster.
Product 2 — All-in-One range
Integrated

GivEnergy All-in-One

Battery + inverter in a single 173.7kg floor-standing enclosure (181.3kg on the AIO 2 + MPPT). Three models in the residential range — the original AC-coupled 6kW AIO, the AC-coupled 3.6kW AIO, and the hybrid AIO 2 + MPPT with six independent PV trackers.

Storage modules

GivBat LV battery modules + HV stackable kits

LV GivBats (51.2V) connect to LV hybrids over the proprietary plug/lug DC+comms cable — RS485 with dip-switch master/slave addressing, NOT CAN/RJ45/terminator. HV stackable kits are a separate architecture for the Gen 3 8.0kW (CAN, 307–460VDC depending on kit size).

LV GivBat range — datasheet specs

Model SKU Capacity DoD Warranty
GivBat 2.6 Gen 1GIV-BAT-2.62.6 kWh80%12 yrs
GivBat 5.2 Gen 1GIV-BAT-5.25.2 kWh80%12 yrs

GivBat 9.5 Gen 3GIV-BAT-9.5-G39.5 kWh100%Unlimited cycles / 12 yrs

All LV GivBats: 51.2V nominal · LiFePO₄ · IP65. No "GivBat 10.2" — that model does not exist in the GivEnergy datasheets. Gen 1 2.6 and 5.2 are 80% DoD per datasheet; everything else is 100% DoD.

HV stackable kits (for the Gen 3 8.0 only)

Kit SKU Capacity Voltage Weight

6-pack HV stackGIV-BAT-20.4-HV20.4 kWh460VDC226.3 kg

HV stack uses CAN over RJ45 — the architecture where a 120-ohm terminator does exist (unlike LV). Comms uses the orange HV-kit connector. Per the stackable batteries manual, minimum 3 packs and maximum 6 in a single stack; commercial systems can parallel multiple stacks.

Choosing

Which GivEnergy product line fits your situation

Choose Gen 3 hybrid + GivBat if…
You want to start small and add capacity later
You want the flexibility to mix battery sizes / generations
Roof PV is up to 7.5kW (3.6/5.0) or up to 12kW (8.0)
You want clean wall installs with the inverter separate
Choose AIO range if…
You want one wall unit not two — simpler aesthetics, fewer cable runs
You already have a PV inverter and want AC-coupled retrofit (original AIO / AIO 3.6)
You want six independent PV trackers for a complex roof (AIO 2 + MPPT)
You like a 15-year datasheet warranty on AIO 2 + MPPT (post-admin caveats still apply)
General guidance only — the right product for any property depends on roof, panel output, grid connection, existing wiring, and energy use. A proper system design from an MCS-accredited installer should precede any purchase. With GivEnergy Ltd in administration, the "GivEnergy approved installer" badge is no longer the relevant credential — MCS accreditation is what protects you under Consumer Code, IBG, and Section 75 routes.
FAQ

GivEnergy product questions

The All-in-One (AIO) is an AC-coupled or DC-coupled wall unit with the inverter and a 13.5kWh LiFePO₄ battery integrated into one enclosure. The Gen 3 hybrid is a DC-coupled inverter on its own — it pairs with external GivBat modules. AIO suits retrofit jobs and single-unit installs; Gen 3 + GivBat suits homes that want to start small and add batteries later. None of the Gen 3 hybrids are an AIO and vice versa — they are different product lines.
AIO 2 + MPPT supports up to two GIV-BAT-13.5-AIO2-E expansion batteries (HV, 307VDC, 15-year warranty per datasheet) — so total capacity grows in 13.5kWh blocks. The original AC-coupled AIO and the AIO 3.6 are 13.5kWh integrated units; additional storage there is normally added by a separate Giv-Bat-on-hybrid system rather than expanding the AIO itself.
Yes. The inverter supports timed charge windows directly, and several smart tariffs (Octopus Intelligent Go, Agile, Flux) integrate via the GivEnergy cloud API. Note: from May 2026 the cloud runs under GivEnergy Software Ltd on a paid subscription model — that affects what API access costs. For owners who would rather not depend on a paid cloud, third-party tools such as Home Assistant integrations and Predbat cover monitoring and tariff optimisation locally.
Per the datasheets: Gen 1, Gen 2 and Gen 3 hybrid inverters all carry 12-year manufacturer warranties. GivBat 2.6, 5.2, 8.2, 9.5 Gen 2, 9.5 Gen 3 and 5.12 Gen 3 are all 12 years (the 9.5 Gen 2 and 9.5 Gen 3 also state "unlimited cycles"). AIO 2 + MPPT and its expansion battery are 15 years. EV Charger is 3 years. However: GivEnergy Ltd entered administration on 9 April 2026 and the administrator has confirmed no further hardware warranties will be honoured by GivEnergy Ltd. Alternative recovery routes are installer cover, IBG, Section 75, MCS Consumer Code, and Consumer Rights Act 2015. See our warranty page.
No. The GIV-EV-7.2 (7kW at 32A, Type 2 tethered, IEC 62196-2) can run as a standalone grid charger, alongside a third-party solar system in CT-Meter mode, or fully integrated with a GivEnergy inverter via Inverter Control Cloud or Local. The configuration mode is set at commissioning. See the dedicated EV charger page for the four modes in detail.
Older installs are usually a Gen 1 or Gen 2 hybrid inverter plus a Gen 1 GivBat (2.6, 5.2 or 8.2). The Gen 3 hybrid and GivBat 9.5/5.12 Gen 3 came later. Look at the label for the SKU prefix — hybrids are GIV-HY-* and batteries are GIV-BAT-*. STS can identify any GivEnergy install from a clear photo of the inverter label.
