I work for a Solar Company and had a customer with a GivEnergy system that we are not versed in. Ron took the time to explain the issues my customer was having and between us managed to rectify the issues. 10 Stars ... Thanks again STS

I sent a message on their website regarding a problem I have on my Givenergy system. Although not supplied by Ronald, I thought it was worth an email. Within the hour on a Saturday, he phoned and we discussed the problem. He logged in remotely and gave excellent advice. I'm too far away for his on-site help but he did diagnose the problem and was happy also to chat through my thoughts about an upcoming solar/battery install I'm planning. Great bloke.... if only he was nearer!
Ronald was great to help me sort out my giv energy inverter issue since company has gone bankrupt in april 26.
Contacted Solar Tech Support when trying to understand what my Givenergy inverter problem might be and what might be my options. Received good/honest advise which backed up my thoughts.
Contacted Solar Tech about my Givenergy battery storage system that wasn't working. Battery status was "idle". Given the company Givenergy had gone bust, I need independent quality technical help. Very patient and clearly very knowledgeable about battery systems Ron diagnosed possible issues and suggested several possible remedies. Worked our way through them and fortunately it began to work. The fault was very specific and only an experienced engineer would have thought to check. Suffice to say I'll be back if I need independent support again. Lastly you only pay if there is a solution. Outstanding.
Our SolarEdge PV system with LG batteries had its first hiccup after 8 years of hard work. The Inverter failed. Fortunately I found Solar-Tech-Support who diagnosed the problem very quickly, ordered a replacement unit and fitted it shortly after we received the unit from SolarEdge. Very thorough and professional approach. Thank you, a solid 5 star recommendation.
What actually needs setting up on a SolarEdge system
On most UK SolarEdge installs above 3.68 kW the configuration that matters most is the G99 export limit, and it is also the one that quietly costs people generation. SolarEdge measures real-time export with a revenue grade meter or CT clamp at the grid connection point and curtails the inverter when export nears the limit. Done right, that limit only restricts what goes to the grid, never your total output. Done wrong, the system flat-lines during peak sun even when the house is drawing load.
The single most common fault we see is the inverter dropping into fixed limiting. When the export meter loses communication, usually a loose RS485 connection or a meter the inverter can no longer detect (error 3x6E in the event log), SolarEdge falls back to a hard cap on total output as a safety measure. A reversed CT clamp does the same kind of damage: with the arrow pointing the wrong way the meter reads import as export, so the inverter curtails when it should be producing. Our export limit guide walks through spotting the flat-line, telling dynamic from fixed limiting, and checking the meter and CT.
The catch is that none of this is homeowner-accessible. Export limit, meter setup and grid compliance all sit behind installer-level authentication in SetApp, so if your original installer has gone, you cannot touch it. We hold our own SetApp installer credentials. Send us your monitoring data and the remote diagnostic is free, no fix no fee; a remote SetApp reconfiguration is a flat £75, and if it turns out to be a physical meter or CT-clamp wiring fault, an on-site visit is from £245.
