Fantastic service, I would highly recommend. From first contact my solar issue was resolved within 2 days. Wouldn't use anyone else.
The GivEnergy cloud is still running. Here is where it stands.
- Independent of every GivEnergy group company
- Entity-precise: who is in administration and who is not
- Free remote diagnostic for monitoring and account problems
Portal not updating, app locked behind a tier you did not expect, or an installer-held account you cannot access. We diagnose monitoring and account problems remotely, and tell you the cause in writing.
Book the free diagnosticMonitoring transfer guideContacted Solar Tech Support in desperation. After explaining the issues I had with my system a diagnosis was made and a solution proposed. Fantastic service, even contacted a manufacturer to arrange replacement parts for me. Great communications, explained all they were doing and what I had to do, clearly and precisly. Followed up to confirm all was ok. Excellent service.
Great service. Got our Givenergy battery back online remotely when others said it needed an onsite visit. Ron resolved the issue within about an hour of my email. Brilliant service.
Brilliant. He fitted a new dongle and set the system up properly. Even better, he explained why the storage batteries don't work in a power cut - not correctly wired up - expensive to fix, but a simple turn of the master switch will give emergency power. He is the third technician to look at this issue and the only one to resolve it. Friendly and appoachable, comes when he says he will and reasonable charges. What's not to like!
What an Amazing service and so helpful . I have had problems with a faulty GivEnergy inverter and Ron has been so diligent in investigating and reporting on it . I’d give him more than 5 stars if I could for his help in diagnosis and potential solution. Thoroughly recommend .
Our SolarEdge PV system with LG batteries had its first hiccup after 8 years of hard work. The Inverter failed. Fortunately I found Solar-Tech-Support who diagnosed the problem very quickly, ordered a replacement unit and fitted it shortly after we received the unit from SolarEdge. Very thorough and professional approach. Thank you, a solid 5 star recommendation.
The four facts that matter
Entity names matter here, because the group did not fail as one company.
GivEnergy Software Ltd operates the portal and apps. It was not placed in administration and continues trading. The cloud has not shut down.
From May 2026, remote app and portal access, historic data, automation and API integrations sit behind a monthly paid tier. Free access is limited to the local network.
The residential hardware entity entered administration on 9 April 2026 and ceased trading. That affects hardware warranties and support, not the cloud itself — the full record is on our administration page.
Solar charging, battery discharge, EPS backup and stored schedules all execute locally. The cloud adds monitoring, automation and remote control on top; it does not keep the lights on.
What depends on the cloud, and what does not
Worth knowing before you decide whether the subscription matters to you, and what an outage would actually cost you.
Solar generation and charging. Battery discharge to house load. EPS backup in a power cut. Charge schedules already stored on the inverter. BMS safety protections. None of these need an internet connection.
Remote monitoring and the app. Historic data beyond the local buffer. Smart-tariff API integrations and automation. Settings changes from your phone. During the October 2025 outage, owners reported losing exactly these — and some reported unexpected system behaviour, so do not assume a clean fallback.
The inverters speak standard local protocols, and third-party tools (Home Assistant integrations, in-home displays such as Predbat) can work with them for owners comfortable with that kind of setup. That is an engineering project rather than a checkbox, and entirely optional while the cloud runs.
Sensible steps while the cloud is running
All free, all reversible, all easier to do now than after a problem.
Confirm you have owner-level access to your system in your own name, not only through your installer. If your installer has gone or holds the engineer account, follow the monitoring transfer guide now, while the process still works.
Charge windows, export limits, mode settings, firmware version. Five minutes with the app, and you can verify your system after any platform change, firmware update or outage — and prove what changed if something goes wrong.
Check which tier your account is on and what your system actually uses. If you rely on smart-tariff optimisation, the subscription is probably worth it; if you glance at the app twice a month, the free local tier may be enough.
The future of the cloud rests with GivEnergy Software Ltd, not the company in administration. We keep the administration page updated as the verifiable facts change.
If the cloud ever does go away
Not a prediction. A contingency note, because owners keep asking.
Everything in the local column above carries on: generation, charging, discharge, EPS, stored schedules. A cloud shutdown is a monitoring and control problem, not a power problem.
We diagnose remotely through the portal while it runs, and on site through the inverter's local interfaces when that is the right tool. If the cloud ever goes, the on-site and local routes remain. The free remote diagnostic stays free either way, and fixes stay from £95, charged only if we fix it.
Replacing a working battery and inverter is a five-figure spend for most systems, and a cloud problem does not justify it. The legitimate reasons to switch are an unrepairable fault, or an upgrade you planned anyway. For everything else, keep the hardware and solve the monitoring question separately.

GivEnergy problems? No fix, no fee.
I’ve worked on hundreds of GivEnergy systems and know the kit inside out. If yours is playing up, my promise is simple — no fix, no fee: just £95 if we fix it, free if we don’t.
