Sofar Solar Support — HYD Hybrid, ME3000SP Battery Faults & Tariff Configuration
Sofar battery not charging, ME3000SP not working, SolarMan offline, grid disconnection faults — we diagnose Sofar Solar hybrid and AC-coupled systems at the engineering level. Remote-first. Independent from Sofar Solar and your installer.
Most Sofar configuration issues are resolved remotely in a single session. Tell us your inverter model and what you're seeing.

Common Sofar Solar problems we diagnose
Sofar Solar has a large UK install base across two distinct product generations — HYD hybrid inverters and the older ME3000SP AC-coupled units. We support both.
Sofar HYD hybrid inverters use SolarMan for schedule configuration. If the battery isn't charging on cheap rate, the TOU schedule likely has the charge window disabled, grid charge toggled off, or the SoC minimum already met. For ME3000SP units, the schedule is set locally on the device — a common source of confusion after router changes.
See diagnostic guide →The Sofar ME3000SP is an AC-coupled BESS managing battery charge/discharge alongside an existing solar system. Common issues: schedule set incorrectly after a power cycle, EPS mode not triggering during a grid outage, battery not communicating correctly over RS485, or the unit being stuck in a fault state requiring a configuration reset.
See diagnostic guide →Sofar HYD hybrids communicate with their paired battery via CAN bus or RS485. A BMS comm fault stops the inverter from reading battery state, preventing charging and discharging. Common causes: wrong battery type selected on the inverter, loose CAN cable, or Pylontech/Dyness protocol mismatch if a third-party battery is paired.
See diagnostic guide →Battery fully charged but the Sofar inverter isn't drawing from it. Check the discharge schedule and minimum SoC threshold in SolarMan. A BMS protection trip will also prevent discharge — check the inverter event log for battery protection errors.
See diagnostic guide →Sofar inverter powered but not generating. Check SolarMan for DC input voltage — if zero or very low, inspect DC isolators and PV string connections. DC isolation faults (G-ISO) and MPPT errors can suppress production while battery functions continue normally.
See diagnostic guide →Sofar inverters comply with G98/G99 and disconnect if grid voltage or frequency exceeds limits. The inverter reconnects automatically. In high-solar-density areas, repeated trips may require export limit configuration. The ME3000SP can also issue grid fault codes related to its AC coupling point.
See diagnostic guide →Sofar HYD hybrids support EPS mode, but it requires dedicated EPS wiring and must be enabled in settings. The ME3000SP also supports an EPS/off-grid mode but is frequently not commissioned for it. If backup power failed during an outage, EPS was likely never set up — or the load exceeded the EPS output rating.

About Sofar Solar systems — what you need to know
Sofar Solar is a Chinese manufacturer with a large UK installed base across two distinct product generations. The ME3000SP was one of the most widely installed AC-coupled battery energy storage systems in the UK between 2016 and 2021 — it retro-fits to existing solar systems to add battery storage and operates independently of the solar inverter. The newer HYD series (HYD 3600–6000 EP) are all-in-one hybrid inverters combining solar MPPT, battery management, and grid connection. Both use SolarMan for monitoring — the same platform used by Sunsynk and Hanchu systems.
The ME3000SP has a large installed base of older units now approaching the 7–10 year mark, and configuration faults or component wear are increasingly common on these systems. For newer HYD hybrid systems, the configuration issues are similar to other SolarMan-based hybrids. Common queries: Sofar ME3000SP not charging, Sofar HYD battery not charging overnight, Sofar SolarMan offline, ME3000SP EPS mode fault, and Sofar battery BMS comm fault. STS provides independent support — not affiliated with Sofar Solar.
Sofar Solar questions answered
For Sofar HYD hybrid inverters, the TOU schedule is configured in SolarMan. Check the charge window is enabled, grid charge is on, and the SoC minimum is below the current battery level. For ME3000SP units, the schedule is set directly on the device — not via an app — and can be inadvertently reset after a power cycle or firmware update.
The ME3000SP is an AC-coupled Battery Energy Storage System that manages charging and discharging alongside a separately installed solar inverter. It was one of the most common retrofitted battery systems in the UK from 2016–2021. Sofar no longer actively markets the ME3000SP, but units remain in widespread operation. We provide full diagnostic and configuration support for ME3000SP systems.
SolarMan offline means the Sofar inverter's WiFi datalogger has lost its connection. The inverter and battery continue operating normally — only remote monitoring is affected. This most commonly happens after a router change, ISP upgrade, or password update. We reconnect the datalogger remotely and restore full SolarMan access.
Yes. For HYD hybrid inverters we configure the TOU schedule in SolarMan. For ME3000SP units we configure the charge window directly on the device. Both approaches can be set up to capture Octopus Agile, Go, Intelligent, Flux, or any other time-of-use rate. Most configurations are completed remotely in a single session.
STS supports all major inverter and battery brands. Sofar HYD inverters are often paired with Pylontech or Dyness batteries — visit those brand pages for battery-specific guidance.
