My 90-year-old father-in-law had a solar system installed nearly three years ago that never worked properly and kept tripping out. Beverley is the gateway to the wider East Riding — a mix of Georgian and Victorian period properties in the town centre, post-war semis in the suburbs, and growing modern developments on the outskirts towards Woodmansey and Tickton. The rural properties dotted across the East Riding Wolds often have larger arrays than anything you'd find in the city, and they've been generating quietly for years with no one keeping an eye on them.
Beverley's town centre is full of Georgian and Victorian homes where panels were fitted during the 2011–2015 FiT rush. Roof space is limited and orientations vary — many arrays are east-west splits rather than pure south-facing. The inverters on these systems are now 10–14 years old and reaching end of life. Replacement needs to account for the original system size and any shading from neighbouring buildings or the Minster.
