A superb service from Ron who went beyond the normal service received from other Tech support companies. I live abroad and was badly let down when my givenergy system failed (and the company went bankrupt) and the local supplier ran away from the problem. Ron sorted the problem and even accessed specialist coding for the inverter that would not be available for suppliers. Ron also ran a full diagnostic to insure that all was in good working order afterwards. Without Rons support and patient assistance I doubt I would ever have got the system back up and running. Well done and thankyou and you have a customer for the future.

What a fantastic service. Had my fault diagnosed within minutes and actually managed to resolve the issue remotely within a few minutes more. This guy is like a “Solar Batman” helping consumers fix their problems using his extensive industry knowledge and expertise. Outstanding service. Thank you so much.
After GivEnergy went into liquidation, just my luck, my battery started playing up (internal board crashed). Contacted my installer - not interested! Found Solar tech support on a Google search. Sooo glad I found this company! Ron is extremely helpful and has plenty of experience. He soon confirmed what the fault was, and helped me to get my system up and running again. Now moved my GivEnergy account to Solar tech support, and will definitely use again if I have more issues. Unusual to find such a helpful company in these times, no morons reading scripts, just direct contact with the engineer.
A really big thank you to Ron and his team, he has vast amounts of knowledge and got my system back up and running, also good to get on with. I was absolutely lost as to know what to do, no help from installer and somehow came across Ron and am I glad I did. I would definitely definitely recommend him to anyone who has faults with there solar system, any make I would say. Thanks again Ron a pleasure meeting you.
My GivEnergy hybrid inverter + battery system had worked faultlessly for 3 years when it suddenly stopped charging and discharging the battery. On contacting my supplier, who had used a sub-contractor for the installation work, I was provided with an email address at GivEnergy but, as it turned out, this is only for GivEnergy Software who are not able to assist. A Google search led to the Solar Tech Support web site, which contains a wealth of helpful information. I requested a remote solar diagnostic, and after providing Ron access to my inverter, he was able to identify and fix the problem within minutes. I am very impressed by Ron’s expertise and knowledge, which included useful information on the current state of GivEnergy Ltd. I would thoroughly recommend Solar Tech Support.
Ron was really helpful. He remotely adjusted my battery settings on the same day I contacted him, and at a reasonable price. Great service.
Solar on the East Yorkshire coast — what we see
Bridlington sits on one of the most exposed stretches of coastline in England. Solar systems here face conditions that inland installations never encounter — salt-laden onshore winds, driving rain from the North Sea, and winter storms that can loosen hardware over time. The result is a distinct set of faults that we don't see as often in South Yorkshire. The panels themselves are usually fine — it's everything around them that takes the punishment.
This is the signature coastal problem. MC4 connectors, DC isolators, and cable clips corrode faster in salt air than they do inland. We see pitting, green oxidation, and increased resistance on connections that would last decades away from the coast. Left unchecked, corroded connections cause arcing, power loss, and eventually a system shutdown. A visual inspection and resistance test during an annual maintenance visit catches these early.
Exposed coastal rooftops take more wind load than sheltered inland sites. Over several years, mounting brackets can work loose, rail fixings fatigue, and the lead flashings around roof penetrations can lift. None of this shows up on your monitoring app — the system looks fine until a bracket fails or water gets in. We check all fixings and seals as part of every on-site visit in the Bridlington area.
Like the rest of Yorkshire, Bridlington has a solid base of Feed-in Tariff era installations from 2012–2015. These systems are now 10–13 years old, and the string inverters are approaching or past end of life. The coastal environment accelerates wear on outdoor-rated components, so inverter failures can come earlier here than on identical inland systems.
Bridlington and the surrounding coast have a high proportion of holiday lets and seasonal properties with solar panels. These systems often run unmonitored for months at a time — by the time the owner notices a fault, the system may have been down for an entire summer season. We set up remote monitoring alerts so faults are caught immediately, even when nobody is in the property.
What we do in Bridlington
Bridlington's coastal location means solar systems face salt air, higher wind loads, and accelerated weathering on exposed components. We remote-diagnose every job first — reviewing monitoring data and fault history before arriving. No call-out fees. Pricing confirmed in writing.
Coastal-condition fault diagnosis — corrosion on isolators, salt damage to connectors, inverter faults, generation drops. From £245.
Fault diagnosis →Full inverter replacement — old unit out, new one installed and commissioned. Coastal systems sometimes need additional IP-rated protection. £795.
Inverter replacement →Coastal Bridlington and the surrounding villages see more outages than inland areas. An EPS circuit turns your battery into genuine backup power for essentials.
EPS installation →Annual service with coastal focus — checking for salt corrosion, connector degradation, inverter health, generation trends. Written report included. From £195.
Annual maintenance →Bought a coastal property with solar in Bridlington? We check the system's condition after exposure to sea air, set up monitoring, and give you a written report covering every component. From £295.
On-site walk-through →Ideal for Bridlington — get answers before we travel. We analyse monitoring data, fault logs, and firmware remotely. Written report within 24 hours. Free — £75 only if we fix it remotely.
Remote diagnostic →What goes wrong with solar systems on the East Yorkshire coast
Coastal installations have a different fault profile to inland systems. Salt, wind, and moisture accelerate wear on components that would last much longer in South Yorkshire. Here's what we see most often.
The most distinctive coastal fault. Salt air attacks the metal contacts inside DC isolators and the pins inside MC4 connectors. This increases resistance, reduces power output, and can cause arcing — a fire risk if left unchecked. Symptoms: generation gradually dropping, intermittent output, or a complete shutdown with no obvious inverter fault. We replace corroded isolators and re-terminate connectors on-site. Annual maintenance →
String inverters on coastal installations tend to fail earlier than their inland counterparts. Salt air can penetrate ventilation grilles, and the higher humidity causes condensation inside the enclosure. We see inverters failing at 8–10 years on the coast versus 12–15 years inland. Symptoms: no generation, blank display, or fault codes. Replacement is usually the right move. Inverter replacement →
Bridlington's exposed rooftops take sustained wind loads that gradually work mounting hardware loose. The lead flashings around roof tile hooks can lift, allowing water ingress. None of this shows on your monitoring — the system generates normally until a panel shifts or water reaches the wiring. We check all fixings, rails, and seals during every on-site visit in this area.
With so many holiday lets and seasonal properties along the coast, we frequently find systems that failed months ago with nobody noticing. By the time the owner checks, they've lost a full season of generation and possibly FiT income. We set up remote monitoring with alerts so faults are caught immediately — whether you're in the property or 200 miles away. Remote diagnostic →
Your installer has gone — your system hasn't
Several installers who worked along the East Yorkshire coast have since gone into administration or liquidation. If your installer has disappeared, the system still works — it just needs independent support. We handle the full recovery: monitoring transfer, documentation rebuild, warranty claims, and fault diagnosis.
Administration 2015. Installed systems across East Yorkshire through government energy efficiency schemes. Fronius and Solis inverters now 10+ years old.
Mark Group guide →Doncaster-based. Voluntary liquidation December 2025. Some customers across East Riding and the Humber area.
Snug Energy guide →Many smaller local installers have closed over the past decade. The recovery process is the same regardless of who fitted your system.
Full installer guide →Manufacturer warranties on panels and inverters are separate from the installer — they may still be valid. Full installer gone bust guide or book a call.
Annual maintenance matters more on the coast
Inland solar systems can go years without maintenance and be fine. Coastal systems can't. Salt corrosion, wind stress, and moisture ingress are progressive — they get worse every year until something fails. An annual maintenance visit catches corroded connectors, loose fixings, and degraded seals before they cause a system failure or a safety issue.
Towns and villages we cover from Bridlington
We cover the East Yorkshire coast and surrounding inland areas. We batch visits to this region to keep response times as short as possible.
Don't see your village listed? If you're on the East Yorkshire coast or nearby, we almost certainly cover you. Get in touch and we'll confirm.
Bought a house in Bridlington with solar panels?
Coastal properties with solar need a more careful assessment than inland homes. Salt corrosion and wind exposure may have degraded connectors, isolators, or mounting hardware over the years — things the estate agent won't have checked. We visit, identify the full system, inspect all weather-exposed components, check it's generating to its potential, and give you a written report with the true condition of the installation.
GivEnergy battery systems in Bridlington
GivEnergy is the most common battery brand we service along the East Yorkshire coast. Second homes and holiday lets in Bridlington often have GivEnergy batteries sitting at full charge for weeks without cycling — leading to SOC drift, monitoring dropout, and missed firmware updates. Salt air degrades external DC connections faster than inland. We provide specialist GivEnergy diagnostics, configuration, and support across Bridlington, Flamborough, Filey, and the surrounding coast.
