Inverter Replacement in Yorkshire
Yorkshire has one of the highest concentrations of ageing solar inverters in England. Thousands of FiT-era string inverters installed between 2012 and 2015 are now reaching end of life — and replacement is the only sensible fix. We're based in Leeds, carry stock of the most common replacement units, and can usually schedule a swap within the same week for our core coverage area.
Tell us the inverter brand and model (or send a photo), the fault, and your location. We'll confirm the replacement spec and give you a written quote. Not sure the inverter is faulty? Start with a diagnostic — the £75 fee is credited if you proceed.

Yorkshire was one of the biggest recipients of Feed-in Tariff era solar installations in England. Between 2012 and 2015, tens of thousands of residential systems were installed across the region — many through government energy efficiency schemes run by Mark Group, Solarplicity, and other installers who have since gone bust. The panels are still fine — they'll last 25+ years. But the string inverters have a typical lifespan of 10–15 years, and the region is now firmly in its first major replacement cycle.

If your inverter is showing a blank screen, a red fault light, persistent error codes, or simply isn't generating — and it was installed in the 2012–2015 window — replacement is almost certainly the right move. Repairing a 10+ year old inverter is rarely economical, and the replacement models are more efficient with longer warranties.

Inverters we replace most often in Yorkshire
These are the brands and models we see failing most frequently on Yorkshire systems right now. We carry stock of the most common replacement units for faster turnaround.
Galvo, Primo, and IG Plus models from 2012–2015 FiT installs. Very common on Mark Group systems across South Yorkshire. Typically replaced with current-generation GivEnergy, Sunsynk, or Solis hybrid units.
Mini and standard string models from social housing retrofits. Very common in Rotherham, Barnsley, and Doncaster. Budget-friendly replacement options available — like-for-like or hybrid upgrade.
Older ShineWay and MTL models reaching end of life. Often replaced with Growatt SPH hybrid series for battery compatibility, or a GivEnergy/Sunsynk hybrid as an upgrade path.
HD-Wave and older SE series. Common in Leeds and West Yorkshire on newer installs. Optimiser-level faults can sometimes be resolved without a full inverter replacement — a diagnostic confirms.
AC and hybrid models. The most popular brand on newer Yorkshire installs. Faults are often firmware or configuration issues resolved remotely — true hardware failure is less common on these newer units.
SMA Sunny Boy, Enphase microinverters, Huawei, Fox ESS, SolaX, and more. We replace all major UK brands — if yours isn't listed, contact us.

Your installer folded — but the inverter still needs replacing
Your inverter has a manufacturer warranty that's separate from your installer — and it may still be valid even if the installer has folded. We check warranty status before quoting every job. If the hardware is covered, you only pay for labour and commissioning. We replace inverters on systems originally installed by Mark Group, Solarplicity, Snug Energy, and All Seasons Energy every week across Yorkshire.

Not always. If your inverter has clearly failed — blank screen, physical damage, confirmed fault code — we can proceed directly to replacement. If there's any uncertainty about whether the inverter is at fault or whether repair is viable, a remote diagnostic at £75 is worth doing first. It prevents ordering an unnecessary replacement, and the diagnostic fee is credited against the replacement if you proceed.
