Green Energy Together (GET UK) has gone into liquidation — Here's how to keep your system running

Green Energy Together — GET UK — was the main contractor for the Solar Together council bulk-buy schemes, fitting solar and batteries on thousands of homes across London, Devon and beyond. After deposit and service failures it lost its scheme accreditation in March 2023 and was wound up by the courts in July 2023, so there is no longer a company to call. Your system is almost certainly fine — here is how to take it over, sort any faults, and chase a deposit if you are owed one.
  • Solar + battery systems · every common scheme brand
  • Manufacturer warranties often survive · we confirm what's claimable

Brilliant support to get my solar battery working again. I didn’t expect help on a Saturday but Ron answered the phone, listened and sent me the information I needed to get it going, answered questions etc. A brilliant service I’d happily recommend.

Alison F. Cockerill · Jun 2026 Google

Ron was brilliant. He really tried to help. He spent hours trying to fix our GivEnergy AIO and ultimately it became apparent that it needed parts to fix the BMS management system. As there appears to be no replacement parts available on the market, he gave excellent advice on what options are now available to move forward. He is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable.

Mark Mayson · Jun 2026 Google

Called back within a day and gave good advice.

Rob and Sue Dempster · Jun 2026 Google

Ron was extremely helpful and tried his best to repair/reset our GivEnergy inverter remotely. In the event he was unsuccessful but he couldn’t have been more helpful. If you have problems with a GivEnergy system please contact him. Highly recommended

Neil Crichton · Jun 2026 Google

Big thanks to Ron. He was incredibly patient and helpful over the phone, taking the time to walk myself and the installer through every troubleshooting step. Through lots of testing he figured out the issue was definitely a hardware issue, which allows us to consider our next steps. Support fees are clear and they operate a “no fix no fee” policy. It is rare to find that kind of honesty combined with dedicated phone support nowadays. I highly recommend Ron, if you need help with your solar system don’t hesitate to give him a call.

Steve M · Jun 2026 Google

A superb service from Ron who went beyond the normal service received from other Tech support companies. I live abroad and was badly let down when my givenergy system failed (and the company went bankrupt) and the local supplier ran away from the problem. Ron sorted the problem and even accessed specialist coding for the inverter that would not be available for suppliers. Ron also ran a full diagnostic to insure that all was in good working order afterwards. Without Rons support and patient assistance I doubt I would ever have got the system back up and running. Well done and thankyou and you have a customer for the future.

Philip Davey · Jun 2026 Google

Thank you for your diligence. On this occasion the battery was able to be saved but they have given a route to hopefully arrange a repair from the manufacturer.

David Bateman · Jun 2026 Google

Ronald was great to help me sort out my giv energy inverter issue since company has gone bankrupt in april 26.

Ankur Kr. Gupta · Jun 2026 Google

I’ve used Ron a couple of times regarding issues with my Givenergy inverter and batteries after Givenergy went bust. My system stopped working properly so it was a stressful time but Ron resolved the issues and got my system working properly again. He’s really helpful and knowledgeable and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him and to use him again if the need arose.

Michael Fairhurst · Jun 2026 Google

Very very helpfuland so quick. Made sure that a non expert like myself understood what the problem was and how to resolve it.

Declan S · Jun 2026

Contacted Solar Tech about my Givenergy battery storage system that wasn't working. Battery status was "idle". Given the company Givenergy had gone bust, I need independent quality technical help. Very patient and clearly very knowledgeable about battery systems Ron diagnosed possible issues and suggested several possible remedies. Worked our way through them and fortunately it began to work. The fault was very specific and only an experienced engineer would have thought to check. Suffice to say I'll be back if I need independent support again. Lastly you only pay if there is a solution. Outstanding.

Mr P · Jun 2026

My Givenergy battery stopped working nearly a month ago. After unsuccessfully reaching out to my installer, who looks like he's also busted, I found Solar Tech Support on a Google search. They fixed my issue in a couple of hours. Any frustrated Givenergy customers, I highly recommend these guys.

Sarma Amirapu · May 2026

Excellent response to diagnose a problem on our SolarEdge installation. Kept us informed at every step. Diagnosis quickly completed and solution implemented.

Excellent service from Solar Tech Support. Extremely quick to respond, easy to deal with and clearly very talented engineers. They were persistent throughout a complex GivEnergy battery issue and resolved everything completely. Highly knowledgeable, professional and reassuring support from start to finish. Highly recommended.

Ron responded very promptly regarding my GivEnergy battery issue, his knowledgeable diagnosis was spot on and resolved the issue on first attempt. Would recommend to any and all.

Ron made more sense in 20 mins than our installer has done over the last 12 months There is a jungle out there and you need someone like Ron to give a comprehensive overview and solution

I have a GivEnergy system consisting of two batteries, two inverters and a controlling EMS (Energy Management System) which has not worked since Nov 2025. After six months I discovered Solar Tech Support, reached out to them and Ron phoned me back – how often do you get that service? Could not be more helpful – worked directly with me over the phone, outside what I would call normal working hours. Lucid explanations and we were able to discuss the issues and history using camera and email history. As this was a very rare setup, Ron was able to access an EMS expert in the field to confirm the solution. One sunny day in, I am now only paying for standing charge and a few pence for spikes in grid consumption while battery catches up with house demand.

When my GivEnergy system had an issue, I was completely left without support and had honestly lost all hope. Thankfully, I searched online and found Ron, which completely turned things around. After sending him a message, he responded incredibly fast and called me to assure me that he would get the problem fixed. I really admire his dedicated, supportive nature and his determination to find a solution. With this kind of outstanding attitude and customer service, he has absolutely secured a future customer in me.

Dennis Brown · May 2026

Ron took me through a diagnostic to confirm my GivEnergy Inverter had a fault. A common one as it turns out with the AC Inverter. As GivEnergy is defunct there is no immediate fix, aside from sourcing 2nd hand replacement. It may be that a fix becomes available over the summer which would make a lot of GivEnergy customers happy (Again)

Contacted Solar Tech Support in desperation. After explaining the issues I had with my system a diagnosis was made and a solution proposed. Fantastic service, even contacted a manufacturer to arrange replacement parts for me. Great communications, explained all they were doing and what I had to do, clearly and precisly. Followed up to confirm all was ok. Excellent service.

After GivEnergy went into liquidation, just my luck, my battery started playing up (internal board crashed). Contacted my installer - not interested! Found Solar tech support on a Google search. Sooo glad I found this company! Ron is extremely helpful and has plenty of experience. He soon confirmed what the fault was, and helped me to get my system up and running again. Now moved my GivEnergy account to Solar tech support, and will definitely use again if I have more issues. Unusual to find such a helpful company in these times, no morons reading scripts, just direct contact with the engineer.

Keith Ballard · Apr 2026

Contacted Solar Tech Support when trying to understand what my Givenergy inverter problem might be and what might be my options. Received good/honest advise which backed up my thoughts.

Hugh Speirs · Apr 2026

Ron is a super star. Two months ago my GivEnergy battery failed a firmware upgrade leaving it a brick. My installer couldn't/wouldn't fix it. GivEnergy couldn't/wouldn't fix it. Then they went into administration and all hope was lost. A flurry of emails later and Ron had diagnosed the fault (failed USB flash drive, something I'd suspected) and talked me through resolving it. Two months of nothing resolved in about 3 hours. It's great to work with someone who pays attention to the details, knows that they're doing (not just following a script) and gets stuff sorted without a fuss or up-charging.

I can add to the list of customers who had already 'given up' on GivEnergy due to their appalling customer service, and that was before they went into administration. So you can imagine my desperation when, having changed my ISP and my Inverter, predictably, proving to be the only device that didn't connect automatically to my new network, I found zero prospect of any customer support with GivEnergy having called in the administrators just five days earlier! The salvation came from Solar Tech Support. My IT advisor stumbled across their web site and some very helpful tips for beleaguered GivEnergy customers, as well as an offer to provide direct assistance. Nothing ventured, I decided to drop them an E-Mail, with very low expectations based on my experience of GivEnergy customer support. Within an hour Ron had responded with some pin point advice, and after a few exchanges of E-Mails he had nailed the problem, enabling the combined efforts of my IT advisor and solar installer to resolve it and reconnect my Inverter. Thank you Solar Tech Support, and Ron in particular, for coming to the aid of a deserted and despondent GivEnergy customer. Expert, razor sharp advice and first class customer service, even though I wasn't officially a customer.

What happened to Green Energy Together (GET UK)

GET UK grew into the main installer for the council-backed Solar Together bulk-buy schemes, putting solar panels and batteries on thousands of homes. After a wave of deposit and service complaints it lost its scheme accreditation in early 2023 and was wound up by the courts a few months later. This is the public record from Companies House and the press.

Public record — Companies House & press

2015–2019
Incorporated, formerly Solarplicity Service Limited

Company 09750103 was incorporated on 26 August 2015 and was previously named Solarplicity Service Limited — part of the wider Solarplicity group. It later traded as Green Energy Together / GET UK from a Norwich registered office, moving into domestic solar and battery installation.

2018–2022
The main Solar Together contractor

GET UK became a lead contractor for the iChoosr-run Solar Together / Switch Together schemes — council and Mayor-backed bulk-buy programmes including Solar Together London and Solar Together Devon — fitting solar and battery systems on thousands of homes.

Mar 2023
Suspended — deposits and service failures

After hundreds of customers reported missed appointments, poor service, and deposits taken but not refunded, GET UK was suspended from the scheme and lost its trade-body accreditation. The Mayor of London's office stepped in to help affected London customers move to other installers and recover deposits.

12 Jul 2023
Wound up by the court — compulsory liquidation

A winding-up petition presented by panel supplier Jinko Solar on 26 April 2023 was heard at Hertford County Court on 12 July 2023, and Green Energy Together Limited entered compulsory liquidation. Reports list 122 unsecured creditors with claims of around £4.2 million. Companies House records the company as in liquidation.

ℹ️

What it means for you: there is no GET UK to ring, and the get-uk.co.uk site has no aftercare team behind it. If your system was installed, it is unaffected by the company closing — but repairs, monitoring, configuration and warranty help now need an independent engineer. If you paid a deposit and never got your install, your route is the deposit protection on your order, not the company.

Your system

What this means for your GET UK system

Most GET UK installs are recent — solar plus a battery, fitted between 2018 and 2022 through Solar Together. The company is gone, but your system isn't. Here's what's affected and what isn't.

What you've lost

Installer support and aftercare — gone. GET UK is in liquidation, so there is no one from the company to call for faults, settings, or advice.

Workmanship warranty — the installer's own cover effectively ended with the liquidation. If your install had an insurance-backed guarantee (IBG) or a consumer-code warranty, check the certificate — those are built to survive the installer closing.

Any unfinished work or unpaid deposit — if your install was incomplete, or you paid a deposit and never got the system, that is a claim against the deposit protection on your order, not something the liquidated company can resolve.

What you still have

Your panels, battery and generation — a system installed and signed off keeps working exactly as before; the company closing does not switch anything off.

Manufacturer warranties — separate from the installer and usually still live on a 2018–2022 install: panels (10–25 years), inverter (5–12 years), and battery (often 10 years), all claimed directly with the maker.

Your Feed-in Tariff or SEG — your export income stays with you. A like-for-like inverter swap keeps FIT intact; SEG sits with your energy supplier.

MCS registration — permanent and searchable at mcscertified.com, even though the installer has gone.

Recovery path

What to do if GET UK was your installer

Work through these in order. The aim is simple: confirm what you've got, get it running reliably, protect your export income — and recover any deposit you're owed.

1
If you're owed a deposit, start the claim now

Paid a deposit and never got your install? Don't wait on the liquidation. Raise a Section 75 claim with your credit-card provider (for payments of £100+), and contact your Solar Together / Switch Together scheme — iChoosr and the council ran deposit protection and contacted affected customers. Keep every email and receipt.

2
Confirm it was GET UK and find your paperwork

Dig out the MCS certificate, the Solar Together order confirmation, and the handover pack — they name the installer and list your panel, inverter and battery models. If they're missing, search mcscertified.com by postcode and install date. Our Documentation Recovery guide covers the full process.

3
Get a free remote diagnostic

Before spending anything, find out the real state of the system — is it generating, is the battery charging and discharging properly, is there a fault, what's the monitoring status. A remote diagnostic is free: no fix, no fee. If we can sort it remotely it's a flat £75; if it needs hands-on work we quote that up front.

4
Recover monitoring and check your warranty

If your monitoring portal was set up under GET UK, we move it to your own homeowner account so you can see generation and storage again — follow our monitoring recovery guide. At the same time we check what's still under manufacturer warranty — on a recent install the inverter and battery often still are.

5
Take over the system and keep it serviced

Once it's running, an occasional check keeps it that way — battery health and firmware, inverter settings against your tariff, DC isolators and MC4 connectors, and generation against expected. An independent system recovery gives you a written condition report and a clean handover into your own name.

How we help

Services for former GET UK customers

We support solar and battery systems regardless of who installed them. These are the services most relevant to an orphaned GET UK / Solar Together system.

Coverage

Wherever Solar Together fitted you, we can help

GET UK installed nationwide through Solar Together — London, Devon and many other council areas — so most of our help starts with a free remote diagnostic, available anywhere in the UK. For hands-on work — an inverter swap or an on-site inspection — we're based in Yorkshire and cover the surrounding region, and can advise on the rest of the country case by case.

FAQ

Common questions from GET UK customers

There is no longer a trading company to call. Green Energy Together Limited (GET UK, company 09750103) entered compulsory liquidation after a winding-up order at Hertford County Court on 12 July 2023, and Companies House lists it as in liquidation. The get-uk.co.uk website may still be online, but there is no aftercare team behind it. In practice an independent solar engineer is now your route to repairs, monitoring, configuration and warranty help — the system itself is unaffected by the company closing. System recovery →
Possibly, but not from the company — as an unsecured creditor in the liquidation you're very unlikely to recover much directly. The realistic routes are: a Section 75 claim through your credit-card provider if you paid £100 or more by credit card; the deposit-protection or insurance-backed cover that came with the Solar Together / Switch Together scheme (the scheme operator iChoosr and the relevant council contacted affected customers about this); and any consumer-code or IBG deposit protection on your paperwork. Start with your card provider and your Solar Together scheme contact — those are usually the fastest.
The installer workmanship warranty effectively ended when the company went into liquidation — but your manufacturer warranties are separate and almost certainly still live. Most Solar Together installs are from 2018 to 2022, so panels (typically 10–25 year product/performance cover), the inverter (often 5–12 years), and the battery (commonly 10 years) are usually still in date and claimed directly with the manufacturer, not the installer. If your install came with an insurance-backed guarantee (IBG) or a consumer-code workmanship warranty, check the certificate — those are designed to survive the installer closing. Because most GET UK systems are relatively modern (2018–2022, usually solar plus a battery), the fix is usually straightforward once it's diagnosed. A lot of faults are configuration, monitoring or settings issues we can resolve remotely; the rest are hardware — a failed inverter, a battery BMS or communication fault, a tripping isolator, or a CT clamp/grid-parameter problem — which we quote for up front. We work on every common brand fitted through these schemes, so whatever inverter and battery you have, we can take the system over. System recovery →
No, when it's done correctly. If you're on the Feed-in Tariff (mostly 2018–2019 installs), a like-for-like inverter replacement of the same or lower AC capacity keeps your FIT accreditation and deemed export intact — you must not increase the system's capacity, and keep the paperwork for both units. If you're on the Smart Export Guarantee (most 2020-onward installs), your export tariff is with your energy supplier and is unaffected by a repair. We document any change properly so your payments continue uninterrupted. FIT system guide →
The remote diagnostic is free — if we can't help, there is nothing to pay. If we fix it remotely (a settings, monitoring or configuration fault) it's a flat £75. Physical work is quoted up front: on-site repairs start from £245, a string-inverter replacement from £795 including supply, fitting and commissioning, and battery or hybrid-inverter work is priced after the diagnostic. No fix, no fee on the diagnostic, and you'll always have the cost in writing before any work begins. Full pricing →
Check your paperwork — the MCS certificate, the Solar Together / Switch Together order confirmation, or the handover pack will name Green Energy Together or GET UK and list your panel, inverter and battery models. You can also search the MCS database at mcscertified.com by postcode and install date. Once we know what you have, a remote diagnostic is usually same-day; if hardware needs replacing, an on-site visit is typically a single half-day once the part is booked in. Documentation recovery →
