Excellent response to diagnose a problem on our SolarEdge installation. Kept us informed at every step. Diagnosis quickly completed and solution implemented.
When my GivEnergy system had an issue, I was completely left without support and had honestly lost all hope. Thankfully, I searched online and found Ron, which completely turned things around. After sending him a message, he responded incredibly fast and called me to assure me that he would get the problem fixed. I really admire his dedicated, supportive nature and his determination to find a solution. With this kind of outstanding attitude and customer service, he has absolutely secured a future customer in me.
My Givenergy battery stopped working nearly a month ago. After unsuccessfully reaching out to my installer, who looks like he's also busted, I found Solar Tech Support on a Google search. They fixed my issue in a couple of hours. Any frustrated Givenergy customers, I highly recommend these guys.
I've spoken to Ron a couple of times with issues with my Givenergy installation. Such a friendly knowledge guy very highly recommended. Thank you very much for resolving my issues
Ron was extremely helpful and tried his best to repair/reset our GivEnergy inverter remotely. In the event he was unsuccessful but he couldn’t have been more helpful. If you have problems with a GivEnergy system please contact him. Highly recommended
What happened to PV Solar Solutions (Cardiff)
PV Solar Solutions (Cardiff) Limited was a Cardiff-based installer of rooftop / home solar panels. It was incorporated in July 2011 with a registered office in the Ocean Park area of Cardiff, and according to the public record it operated nationally but mainly in Wales and the south of England. Like many installers from that period, it grew quickly during the peak of the domestic Feed-in Tariff — turnover rose from around two million pounds to roughly 6.9 million pounds across its first two financial years — and then ran into trouble when the government cut the solar Feed-in Tariff, which pulled the rug from under FiT-era rooftop installers nationwide.
Insolvency timeline — Company no. 07716104
PV Solar Solutions (Cardiff) Limited incorporated, registered office in Cardiff CF24 5EJ.
The company entered administration in the wake of the government's cut to the solar Feed-in Tariff.
The company moved into Creditors' Voluntary Liquidation, with creditors left unpaid.
PV Solar Solutions (Cardiff) Limited was dissolved and removed from the register. There is no successor company.
This was more than a decade ago. Because the company was dissolved in 2015, the usual short-window consumer routes — insurance-backed guarantee claims, Section 75 credit card claims and RECC or HIES complaints — will in most cases be out of time. The routes that still matter for a system this age are your manufacturer warranties, your Feed-in Tariff registration, and getting the system independently checked. Start with your original paperwork to confirm what cover, if any, remains.
What PV Solar Solutions closing means for your solar system
The company is long gone, but your system isn't. Here's what's affected and what isn't.
Installer workmanship warranty — PV Solar Solutions can no longer honour this; the company was dissolved in 2015. Any insurance-backed guarantee (IBG) that came with the install — typically 2, 5, or 10 years — will, on a system of this age, most likely have run its course. Check your paperwork for a certificate and term before assuming it has lapsed.
Aftercare and support — gone. There is no one to call for system queries, monitoring help, or configuration changes.
Original installer monitoring — if the system had an online portal registered under the installer account, that access died with the business years ago.
Short-window consumer claims — routes like Section 75, RECC or HIES complaints will, more than a decade on, in most cases be out of time.
Manufacturer warranties — potentially live. Solar panels commonly carry product and performance warranties of 20 to 25 years, which can outlast the installer by decades. Your inverter warranty was shorter and may have expired. Check the make, model and serial number and claim directly with the manufacturer.
Your Feed-in Tariff — unaffected. The FiT is a contract between you and your FiT licensee, not the installer. As long as you keep submitting your generation-meter readings, your payments continue.
Your generation data — where the inverter has a portal, the data sits on the manufacturer's servers and just needs transferring to your own account. Many systems of this age are generation-meter only, with no online portal.
MCS registration — permanent. If your install was registered with MCS, that record is independent of the installer and searchable at mcscertified.com.
On the Feed-in Tariff? Here's how to protect your payments
PV Solar Solutions installed at the height of the domestic Feed-in Tariff, so many of their customers will be FiT recipients. The good news is that the FiT and the closure of your installer are entirely separate — but you do need your paperwork in order to keep being paid.
The Feed-in Tariff is administered by your FiT licensee — usually the energy supplier you registered with. PV Solar Solutions closing has no bearing on that contract. If your payments have stopped or look wrong, contact your licensee directly; they hold your registration and tariff details.
FiT payments are based on the readings from your generation meter. If you have stopped submitting them since the installer disappeared, or you are not sure your meter is being read correctly, that is worth checking — it directly affects what you are paid.
FiT eligibility depends on the MCS registration of your install. The MCS record is permanent and searchable at mcscertified.com even though PV Solar Solutions has gone. If you have lost the certificate, it can be recovered — see the recovery steps below.
Five steps to recover your PV Solar Solutions system
Work through these in order. On a FiT-era system this old, protecting your Feed-in Tariff and checking what warranties remain matter more than chasing closed consumer-claim windows.
If you claim the FiT, this comes first. Check your latest statement, make sure you are still submitting generation-meter readings, and contact your FiT licensee if anything looks wrong. The FiT is unaffected by PV Solar Solutions closing, but lapsed readings or lost paperwork can interrupt your payments.
Dig out your original paperwork. Note the panel make and model — many carry 20 to 25 year product and performance warranties that may still be live — and the inverter make, model and serial number, though inverter warranties are shorter and may have expired. Check too for any insurance-backed guarantee certificate and its term. Our warranty claim guide walks through claiming directly with the manufacturer.
After a decade or more, the most useful thing is to find out what state the system is actually in. A free remote diagnostic gives you a structured assessment — is it still generating, are there faults, what is the monitoring status, and what needs attention. This becomes your action plan.
If PV Solar Solutions never handed over your MCS certificate and DNO notification — or you have lost them over the years — search mcscertified.com for your MCS record and contact your DNO to confirm the original notification. Where the inverter has an online portal, our Monitoring Account Transfer service moves it to your own account, or follow the step-by-step guide. Our Documentation Recovery guide covers the rest.
A FiT-era system that has gone years without a service is exactly where small faults quietly eat into generation — and into your FiT income. An independent annual maintenance visit checks the panels, inverter, isolators and meter, and gives you a baseline performance report you can compare year-on-year. From £195 per year.
Services for former PV Solar Solutions customers
We're based in South Wales and cover Cardiff, Swansea, Newport and the surrounding areas — the heart of where PV Solar Solutions worked. These are the services most relevant to an older, orphaned FiT-era solar system.
The full picture for an orphaned FiT-era install: monitoring transfer where a portal exists, documentation and FiT paperwork rebuild, fault diagnosis, a warranty status check, and a written condition report covering everything.
System Recovery →If your inverter has an online portal that was registered under the installer's account, we reclaim it from the manufacturer and set it up under your own name so you can see your generation data again.
Monitoring transfer →Not sure your decade-old system is still pulling its weight? A 30–45 minute engineer call checks generation, identifies faults, and gives you a written plan. Free — £75 only if we fix it remotely.
Remote diagnostic →Panel warranties of 20 to 25 years often outlast the installer by decades. If a panel or inverter has failed, we gather the evidence and liaise with the manufacturer directly to test whether your cover still applies.
Warranty support →Concerned about an ageing install? An on-site inspection checks wiring, mounting, earthing, isolators and the generation meter, with a written report — useful for insurance, a house sale, or simple peace of mind.
Independent inspection →Older FiT systems benefit most from a regular health check, since lost generation quietly costs you FiT income. An annual service catches faults and meter issues early. From £195.
